[Goals for August 2025] Three things I will try to improve my illustration skills

Before I knew it, it was already August.

I decided on three challenges with the theme of "improving my illustration skills."

I'm still unsure about my own style of painting, but with each painting I create, I gradually begin to see my own unique style.

Amidst this process of exploration, this month I'd like to focus on three main things: "drawing," "taking on challenges," and "communicating."

In this article, I've tried to condense my goals for August and the reasons behind them.

I hope this will be helpful to other people who draw illustrations.

The most important thing is to get into the habit of drawing and posting your work.

Let's start with this!

Just draw!

Rather than focusing on whether I can draw well or not, I'll prioritize the act of drawing and just keep posting on X.

I don't yet have a style that I can say, "This is my style!", but I'm sure it will gradually become clearer as I continue to draw!

Especially now,Expression of lightやHow to use the color blueI'm currently researching this. I'm in the process of trial and error trying to figure out how to create a sense of transparency and airiness.

I believe that this post will become valuable experience for my future self.

I'll try posting to sites other than PIXTA as well.

Currently, I only have stock illustrations registered with PIXTA, but I'd like to try other sites in the future.
By increasing the number of platforms where you post, you'll have a greater chance of reaching a wider audience!

The style of illustrations I'll be posting is soft and has a slightly retro feel, like this.
Actually, I've been working on this design for a while, and I also have a boy's version.

Some people said, "I love this art style!", so I decided without hesitation to go with this style.

I'm still practicing drawing bodies, but I hope that drawing for stock photos will naturally help me improve!

Challenge yourself with difficult poses and angles!

Recently,DECOI tried drawing this based on the illustration by Shigure Ui that appears in the PV for 27's "Cherry Pop"*!

Actually, I forgot to flip it, but the video was still the same so I left it as is...! lol

Trying out poses and angles that I don't usually draw is really difficult, but the sense of accomplishment when I finish is amazing!

from now on,I'm going to keep challenging myself with compositions that seem a little difficult...I would like to do that.

I've found lots of scenes on YouTube that I want to draw, so I plan to draw them as I draw inspiration from them!

This article introduces techniques and tools used in illustration production.

Regarding the illustrations I have drawn so far,Tools I use and techniques I employ during the production processI plan to gradually compile these into articles.

With each drawing, I think about "how can I make it even better?" and I try to improve it, especially when creating videos, where I want to pay close attention to the composition and presentation.

I hope this will be helpful to anyone who's wondering, "How do they express that?"

The tools I primarily use

Air

This is my current creative partner!
I'm using a 4th generation iPad Air.
It's lightweight, easy to hold, and the drawing experience is fantastic.

They are a reliable companion that I can take anywhere.

Procreate

Drawing is basically Procreate I am using it.

It's simple and a one-time purchase, so you can easily start drawing.

New discoveries I made in my August goals and what's to come

My goal for August was simply to draw illustrations! But when I actually wrote it all down, I realized there were so many other things I wanted to do.

Posting stock illustrations, experimenting with composition, documenting the creative process...

I feel that each of these experiences is an important step that will lead to my personal growth.
