March 8th is "Mimosa Day".

In this season when the first signs of spring begin to gently drift through the city, “"The warmth of light"”I drew a square illustration with this theme.

The yellow of the mimosa is the color that most honestly reflects the light of spring.

The translucent petals against the backlight and the contrast with the blue sky were so beautiful that I kept thinking, "Spring really is this color," as I painted.

While drawing Pochi surrounded by yellow mimosa flowers, I challenged myself to express the soft sunlight unique to spring.

By gradually layering colors and making subtle adjustments to the brightness, as if the backlight were softly wrapping around the image, "A light that is pleasant to look at."We are working towards achieving this goal.

The key area of improvement this time: "Expressing sunlight."

Up until now, I hadn't paid much attention to the background or scenery, but this time I scattered mimosa flowers in the background as well, making an effort to make the entire image more vibrant.

The yellow mimosa flowers stand out beautifully against the blue sky, creating a pleasant, gentle, spring-like atmosphere.

I used the "Burst" brush in Procreate for the mimosa flowers.

I had the idea that this technique could be used not only to represent liquids, but also to create fluffy flowers like mimosa.
When I actually used it, I was surprised and thought, "Wow, you can use it like this too!"

By using yellow, orange, and white, I was able to make it look more like a mimosa.

Creating a "translucent light effect" with backlighting: Techniques for natural light expression.

For the finishing touches, after merging all the layers, I slightly darkened the whole image with a hard light, and then added a soft, diffused light effect with a soft brush.

By adding just a touch of red to the color of the sunlight, in addition to white, we were able to create a light that is closer to a translucent glow.

Insights into improving my illustration skills. My progress notes for this session.

I felt that I was able to depict light more naturally in this piece than in the previous one.

Things I'd been experimenting with, like how backlighting blurs and how to layer colors, were starting to take shape, and there were moments when I thought, "I'm so glad I kept at it."

I also realized that by searching for and trying out different brushes, I could discover unexpected uses and make new discoveries.

I believe that accumulating these small insights leads to improvement.

I want to continue to cherish my daily practice.

It works well with the Apple Pencil, and the smooth drawing experience is very comfortable.
