good morning!

Today, I'd like to talk extensively about illustrations.

I was captivated by DECO*27's "Cherry Pop," and decided to create a version using Procreate. It took me 18 hours to draw. One piece.

I've included a lot of things, like points for improvement, insights, and creative ideas for dividing the parts!

I posted about it on YouTube, but I've had trouble putting my feelings into words, so I'll be sharing them slowly on this blog.

Introduction to the original video

【DECO*27 – Cherry Pop feat. Hatsune Miku】

I drew this illustration using this video as a reference!

This is a work you'll want to watch again and again, packed with DECO*27's pop and energetic melodies and the cuteness of Miku with her hair in buns, as drawn by Shigure Ui!

I've always dreamed of one day being able to create a video like this, where music and illustrations perfectly complement each other... It was with that aspiration in mind that I tackled this project!

My thoughts and observations on drawing a cherry pop-style illustration

Actually, this work took some time to complete...It took a whopping 18 hours!!

But because of that, I was able to really focus on the work, and I feel like the quality improved significantly.

And most importantly,I learned so much!

For me right now, the most suitable method for studying illustration is probably "copying."

By carefully observing and drawing other people's works, you can discover so many things.

This time, I drew all the parts separately because I was also thinking about animating it, which took even more time. But I feel like I gained a deeper understanding of the structure and movement as a result.

And what I noticed while copying Shigure Ui-sensei's illustrations was... that she puts an incredible amount of effort into expressing the "softness" of the girls!

What I particularly noticed was the fullness of her breasts and the softness of her thighs.

Each line and color seems to be imbued with a kind of fetishism or affection, and I really enjoyed drawing it.

Reflecting on the shortcomings and successes of my illustration production.

Points for improvement

- The lines were a little unstable.

→ Upon closer inspection, the lines are blurry. I had image stabilization enabled, but I think I still need to work on how to apply pressure correctly.

- I didn't have a good grasp of which parts could be moved and which couldn't.

→ I tried to move the part that was wrapped around from the back to the front, and I regret that I didn't understand the structure well enough.

What went well

The colors turned out beautifully!

I managed to draw the balance of the hair bun well.

The coloring inside the eyes turned out beautifully.

I was able to be conscious of the movement of the skirt, the cardigan, and the connection between the shoulders.

Being able to draw with perspective in mind is another area where I've improved!

I learned so much from creating this illustration.

It was a valuable experience that made me realize anew just how amazing Shigure Ui's illustrations are.

I want to make full use of this experience in my next project and grow even more!

Tools Used

iPad Air

This is my current creative partner!
I'm using a 4th generation iPad Air.
It's lightweight, easy to hold, and the drawing experience is fantastic.

They are a reliable companion that I can take anywhere.

Procreate

Drawing is basically Procreate I am using it.

The main pen tool I use is "Studio Pen"!

I initially used a "drafting pen," but now I only use it for rough sketches, and I've settled on using a studio pen for line art.

It's less prone to unevenness, and if you add a little image stabilization, you can draw smooth, clean lines...or so it seems! (laughs)

When you find a tool that feels good to draw with, your motivation to create really increases, doesn't it? (*´ω`*)

What I learned from Shigure Ui's expressions and my future goals

This time, we introduced illustrations inspired by DECO*27's "Cherry Pop."

Each and every illustration I draw holds a special place in my heart, and I'm so happy that I can express those feelings in words through this blog.

I dream of one day being able to create homage pieces like this, tailored to cover song videos or the worldviews of other VTubers!
