Ever since watching "Super Princess Kaguya!" which is currently streaming on Netflix, I've wanted to draw some fan art... and it's finally finished!

This time,A composition showing Kaguya, Iroha, and Yachiyo taking a selfie.I gave it a try!

I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the artwork and captivated by the story, which was filled with intricate plot twists.

Among them,Kaguya, Iroha, and Yachiyo are just so incredibly cute!

I absolutely loved the modern take on the Japanese aesthetic, and before I knew it, I had watched it over and over again.

I drew this with the hope of expressing, even just a little, the world I love so much through illustration.

Completed illustration

I've wanted to draw this illustration ever since watching "Super Princess Kaguya!", and I've finally finished it.

I envisioned a fun atmosphere, like Kaguya, Iroha, and Yachiyo taking a selfie together ( *´艸｀)

What I felt after watching the movie was,The beauty of the use of colorAnd each of the threeAttractive eyesIt was wonderful! Each person's unique personality shone through, and it was truly amazing!

I drew this hoping that I could capture even a small part of that impression in the picture.

From rough sketch to finished product! A complete guide to illustration creation.

Rough

I started by drawing a rough sketch.
At this point, they didn't look very similar yet...to be honest, I was worried, "Is it okay to keep drawing like this?" (laughs)
The lines are a bit rough, so I'm a little embarrassed to show it to you... (;´∀｀)

Line drawing ①

In the initial line drawing, I adjusted the position of Yachiyo's hands and added Iroha's ears.

What I was particularly conscious of wasEye shapeIs.

The three characters in "Super Princess Kaguya!" have very striking eyes, so I drew them carefully.

Line drawing ②

I refined the lines and corrected a few parts that bothered me.
I wanted to lift my spirits, so I tried coloring just the eyes first (lol).
Adding color to the eyes really changes the overall look, doesn't it?

Coloring

I colored it while referencing the atmosphere of the anime.
I carefully layered the colors, keeping in mind how to highlight the individuality of each character.
I think I did a pretty good job on it.

Finishing

For the final touches, I tried to create a slightly more subdued tone overall, keeping in mind the image of Tsukuyomi's nighttime.
I hope that the cuteness and gentle atmosphere of the three of them comes across.

My key points in creating illustrations: line art, color scheme, and accuracy of reproduction!

I draw the line art twice to adjust the balance.

I'm not very good at drawing line art, so when I draw seriously...Draw the line art in two separate steps.I try to do that.

The first step involves roughly sketching the lines based on the rough draft and adjusting the size of the objects and the balance of the face.

The second time, by carefully refining the lines based on the first one, the overall balance will improve significantly.

Since adopting this method, I feel like my anxiety when drawing lines has lessened a little.

I try to capture the atmosphere of the original while learning as I draw.

To be honest, I would like to further establish my own art style, but this time...Trying to capture the atmosphere of the original as closely as possible.I tried drawing it.

There were so many moments while drawing where I thought, "This kind of expression is wonderful," and it was a really enjoyable time.

Tools and brushes used:

The ease of being able to complete everything with just an iPad and Procreate.

I use an iPad Air and an Apple Pencil Pro.
I like that it's lightweight and easy to carry, so I can easily draw even when I'm outside.

The brush used is included in Procreate.「Studio Pen」Yes. So that the lines become smooth.I applied two levels of image stabilization.I'm drawing.

The best thing about it is that you can do it all with just an iPad and an app, so you can easily draw anywhere.

It's hard to pick just one favorite scene, but... the live performance of "World is Mine" is definitely the one that left the biggest impression on me!

After Kaguya fell, that famousThe same pose as the thumbnail for "World is Mine"There was a scene where they took a picture, and the respectful direction made me involuntarily sayWow...!I was deeply moved.

The slightly upbeat tempo felt very modern and was really great!

My thoughts after drawing fan art for "Super Princess Kaguya!"

This time, I drew some fan art of my favorite show, "Super Princess Kaguya!", and I wanted to share it with you.

This work is beautiful in every scene, the battle scenes are thrilling, and there are so many things to see!

I thought I had noticed several clues, but it was such a profound work that I'm sure there are still many more secrets hidden within.

And then, surprisingly,Theatrical release for one week only, starting February 20, 2026.It seems it will be shown! (Apparently, there was even an unexpected extension of the screening.)

I'm really looking forward to seeing those beautiful visuals and music on the big screen!
